JESUS, AUTHOR AND FINISHER OF OUR FAITH
Feb 23, 2012
I am going to share with you a story from central Kenya. There was famine in the land and two men decided to go to a neighboring community who at that time had enough food. The two had difficult time trekking because they had not eaten for some time. One of them had information on what to expect when they arrive at the neighboring community. When they were tired and unable to move on he encouraged the other by telling him; when we get there we shall get corn, yams, bananas and all other types of food. The exhausted friend was encouraged and got more strength to move on until they arrived.
We live in a world stricken with famine of spiritual food. Every moment the enemy of our souls is taking away our spiritual food. We are encouraged to move on with anticipation that one day we shall be filled and never be hungry again. This is what Hebrews 12:2 means. “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
Jesus came from heaven and was aware of the glory awaiting him. For that reason he endured the cross. As we go through the trials and tribulations on this earth, let us be encouraged with these words and move on looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.
